Our Goal

The Queer Community Action, Research, Education, and Support (QCARES) team was started by Jay Bettergarcia, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology & Child Development at Cal Poly. QCARES conducts community-based-participatory-action (CBPAR) research, which aims to make the community apart of empirical research and create lasting, effective, social change. Through CBPAR research, we engage with individuals across various underserved communities as we seek to understand challenges and develop innovative solutions. Currently, we connect with the community through education, research studies, and a variety of trainings. See our “projects” page to learn more about work and the “get involved” section to connect with us!
